The 21st Jeonju International Film Festival (Jeonju IFF)

- Film Submission to the International Competition will open on December 2, 2019 and close on January 20, 2020.

Launched in 2000, Jeonju IFF has been working on excavating new talented directors and films and performing as the widest window of adventurous films.

International Competition is an official competition section, devoted to rising directors from around the world. With a slogan “Cinema, Liberated and Expressed”, Jeonju IFF 2020 will step up to rediscover new talents together with the audiences, expanding the boundary of cinema through unlimited and new forms of expression and imagination.

International Competition accepts any form of feature films including fictions, animations, documentaries and experimental films. Entries must have a minimum pre-condition of Asian Premiere, which means the film has not been presented in any Asian countries and won’t be before the festival is held. Moreover, the film must be the first or the second feature of the director. Entries that has been made after January 2019 are only qualified.

Selections are scheduled to be announced in March 2020. The selected films will be screened at the 21st Jeonju IFF which will be held from April 30 to May 09, 2020. A total of three awards, Grand Prize, Best Picture Prize and Special Jury Prize, will be given in the International Competition. The winner of Grand Prize will receive a cash award of 20 million KRW and a trophy. The winners of Best Picture Prize and Special Jury Prize will receive a cash award of 10 million KRW and a trophy.
